Sol Cabanas del Caribe is a small intimate, first-class hotel. The hotel is set in lush gardens, overlooking a white sand beach. Located on the north-west coast of the island, on a beautiful white, sandy beach just 10 minutes from the city and the airport and only 13 kilometers from Chankanaab Park.

The hotel has 48 double rooms, nine of which are cabañas with direct access to the beach and sea views. All rooms come with a small living area.

Hotel Amenities include: Restaurant, Poolside Bar, Babysitting services, Souvenir shop and Lighted tennis court. The onsite restaurant - Las Gaviotas serves international cuisine including superb seafood. Open 7 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. for lunch and 6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. for dinner. Restaurant has spectacular oceanfront location.

Each room has either 2 doubles beds or 1 king size and individual air-conditioning units. The rooms do not have TVs or telephones.

This is the WORST place I stayed at... Don't trust the reviews. It is not a MOTEL 6 (that is a paradise comparing to this). Absolutely wet, disgusting beds (pillows and mattresses), rats (I even saw one at the reception), 2-inch cockroaches, smelly and super old bathrooms (who cares that they are tiny and you need to be a superman to open the water?), AC has two settings - super cold and off (try to sleep for the whole night using it). All the salads in the restaurant stay for days in fridge (our friends got stomach sick after visiting the Sol Cabanas restaurant); the restaurant sea view is amazing (if you can ignore the heat and millions of mosquitoes). ----- Ok, I know the place is cheap, so if you still want to go there for an adventure: leave your kids at home; rent a car (the hotel is far away from everything including restaurants and the downtown); take your pillows from home; be sure to have tons of mosquitoes repellent; have immodium ready. Have fun... somewhere else!
