Gran Bahia Principe is the sum of two 5 star hotels formerly known as Bahia Principe Tulum and Bahia Principe Akumal independently, now offering a 1295 guestroom Resort, the shopping and entertainment center "Hacienda Doña Isabel" and the best attention in the Caribbean. Located approximately 60 minutes from Cancun International Airport, 35 minutes south of Playa del Carmen and 20 minutes north of Tulum.

Designed by the prestigious Mexican architect, Fernando Quirarte, and inspired by the Puuc Mayan architectural period, the hotel welcomes its guests with all of Mexican's characteristic warmth. Materials such as stone, talavera pottery, marble, large palapas, hardwoods and an exquisite color combination make the hotel a cool and harmonious place that is easy to discover and enjoy.

The project was carried out following patterns of sustained tourism in order to make the best use of all the area's resources. The kilometer-long beach is completely natural, and large, manicured gardens will make your strolls around the complex all the more enjoyable. Modern energy-saving and water-processing systems, among others, illustrate the hotel's concern for the environment.

The resort offers a total of 1,259 guestrooms which are distributed in three-story villas housing 18 rooms each. The Tulum section offers 774 rooms including 36 Junior Suites and the Akumal section offers 485 rooms including 413 Junior Suites and 72 standard rooms. Standard room amenities include fully-fitted marble bathrooms with a bathtub and shower, hairdryer, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, color TV with remote control, mini-bar and balcony or terrace.

The Bahia features several swimming pools including one with three Jacuzzis, a lake-form pool with children’s section and a natural saltwater pool on the beach. Large sun terraces and gardens with sun beds and sunshades are available for you to relax. Additional hotel amenities include a variety of restaurants and bars, a spa offering a variety of beauty and body treatments, land sports including bicycles, tennis, badminton, football, basketball and volleyball, water sports activities including kayaks, windsurfing, catamarans, scuba diving and snorkeling plus professional shows and entertainment hosted by our recreation staff.

The all-inclusive plan features: All meals and snacks at all the restaurants and bars. All national drinks and cocktails at all the restaurants and bars.
Entertainment : Programmes of daytime and evening entertainment for adults and children, with the participation of the entertainment team.
Facilities & Activities : You'll be able to enjoy the following sports: kayaking; windsurfing; catamarans, free demonstration in the swimming-pool, bikes for use within the hotel's confines; 3 (floodlit) tennis courts; badminton; football; basketball; volleyball, merengue and aerobics classes.
Limitations & Extra Charges: The mexican night, Spa, diving, pictures, security box, laundry, medical service, merchandise at the shops, and long distance calls have an extra charge.

The Bahia Principe hotel in Mexico was FANTASTIC! The staff was all very friendly and like many foreign countries put the English to shame. They were extremely welcoming, friendly and could not do enough for you. The complex was very large and offered all you could ever dream of or need. The food I would give 8/10 loads of choice, all very fresh and presented with care, however, all tasted the same after a while. This place was a paradise we spent two weeks there in June 2005 and would highly recommend it to anyone! If you like relaxing, clean, tropical environments with the option of loads of water sports, diving, snorkeling, spa's, dancing, games etc... This is the place for you. A little far from Cancun as taxi's are very expensive but many tourist trips are nearby (most of the main ones you would require). 10/10 overall you can't go wrong! If you've booked be excited your gonna love it! Just pack plenty of sun lotion :-)

We had our first trip to Mexico in 2002. The Bahia Principe is a gorgeous resort, the food, the beach, the staff, the rooms; in fact absolutely everything was first class. The memories of this holiday have always lingered - so much that I've booked again for next month!
